Self-taught sculptor, in metal, of abstract and figurative work, and tapestry artist, born in London. He was a fourth-generation Australian educated in Australia and England. Robinson lived in Australia 1940–3 and 1952–69, then returned to England, living in Somerset. He became interested in sculpting when farming in South Australia’s Ninety-Mile Desert for 12 years. Robinson’s work was shown by Freeland Gallery and in Australia by Beaver Galleries, Canberra. Several Australian collections hold examples. Among Robinson’s many public commissions were sculpture near Tower of London, 1973; Seattle Opera House, America, 1974; Universe, for Collins-Wales House, Melbourne, 1975; Portsmouth, 1980; The Acrobats, Bruce Stadium, Canberra, 1980, commissioned by National Capital Development Commission; and Soccer Players, also ordered by the Commission, 1983.
