Plain design with gilt brass hinge and enamelled thumb piece. The lid with inset carved lapis lazuli.

Henry Griffith & Sons firm was established in Birmingham in 1850 they moved to  Leamington in 1919/20. In 1947 the firm participated to the British Industries Fair.

They made fine quality boxes for leading retailers including Alfred Dunhill Ltd and Hardy Brothers Ltd. They continued trading until the early 1980's

Hardy Brothers Ltd, was established by John Hardy in Sydney in 1853 expanding into Brisbane in 1894 and Melbourne in 1918. The company is still privately owned and is the only Australian jewellery business to hold a royal warrant.
