A pair of Gothic Revival Oak Chairs, attributed to Collier and Plucknett.

The open backs with scrolling side supports, the crest rail with a central carved integrated half hoop and arrow head terminals, the solid seats with carved back panel and apron, the shaped sides with applied rectangular lozenges, on horizontal V shaped supports and stretchers.

English circa 1870.

Collier and Plucknetts was the result of a partnership between James Plucknett and Frederick Collier formed in the late 1860's. There was a showroom in Leamington Spa and a workshop in Warwick : Collier and Plucknett: upholsterers, cabinet-makers and decorators by appointment to Her Majesty, and Manufacturers of rich carved furniture in the peculiar styles characteristic of the Gothic, Tudor and Elizabethan ages.

Their most famous commission was carried out for the Gibbs family, later Barons Wraxall, of Tyrtesfield, Bristol, circa 1880.

The partnership lasted until January 1880.
