The Sosibios Vase is a Neo-Atlic marble krater of the Hellenistic period. Rome circa 50BC.
It is decorated with a relief depicting Artemus and Hermes standing by an alter and presiding over a Bacchic (drunkin) procession of several Maenads, the female followers of Dionysus. They are shown dancing to music and are accompanied by a dancing Satyr, a warrior and Apollo playing the cithara, an ancient stringed instrument.
The original is in The Louvre, Paris.
